With many companies still running Small Business Sever 2003 and Microsoft announcing their product support lifecycle for this older server, what better time to announce SBS 2011. SBS 2011 now comes in two versions: Essentials and Standard.
SBS 2011 Essentials – The ideal first server for small businesses, this server is very easy to setup and use. It can be used by up to 25 users, and Microsoft makes it super easy to license as it doesn’t require any CALs (Client Access Licenses.) It can connect easily to cloud services such as Office 365, and Hosted Exchange Email from Beanstalk Computing. It is expected to be released in the first half of 2011 for $545.
SBS 2011 Standard – This is a direct replacement for older versions of SBS. It is a more complex system that can support up to 75 users and requires CAL’s. It includes Exchange email and other collaboration tools that are hosted on premise.
